El nostre pa II - continuation
2019
The project is developed from a series of actions located in the fields where my grandfather and neighboring farmers grew wheat. Through a situated performative practice, the project investigates rural memory and the economic and symbolic transformations of agricultural work.
It focuses on the capitalization of time and the politics of waiting within the agricultural context. The actions unfold as a choreography of useless or slowed-down gestures: taking a nap when the wheat is still young, combing the wheat in an endless task affected by the wind, or picking ripe wheat to fill pillows that travel to the beds of those who wish to return, in dreams, to the land.

This circular gesture—from sowing to sleep—challenges our expectations on productive/unproductive time and the loss of meaning of traditional agricultural activities in a contemporary context. It questions the model of economic valuation of time and work, underlining forms of resistance based on waiting, apparent inactivity and care.
